Instruction will include teaching all strokes and matchplay scoring.  Local USTA Smashers & Mac Advantage tournament play is optional and is free to all Mac Advantage members.

This age group is joining the USTA Youth Progression Pathway!  The first tournament experiences are introduced with a Red Ball division.  And with the new 36’ court complex at Wall Park, these players can practice and play matches on real courts, their size!  Hopefully this will make it more likely that players this age will feel ready to play matches in the 4 tournaments offered by the Mac Advantage.
Instruction will include teaching all strokes and the development of movement skills and hand eye coordination.

FAQs

Q. How do I know whether to put my first grader into PeeWee or Red Ball?
A.  We feel the parent knows their child best and the decision should be made considering the child’s attention span and where their athletic development is at this time.  A child who improves enough in Camp and June lessons who wants to continue and is ready for more challenge can enroll in Red Ball in July.

Q.  How do I know if my child is ready for a Red Ball tournament?
A.  First, does your child say he or she wants to play?  Ask your child’s coach if he or she can rally one or two balls and if the serve has been learned. Take your child out to Wall Park and play a match! But remember all matches are fully supervised and help with scoring and line calling will be given during the matches.  It is not important to win, just to have fun trying!

Q.  Does my child need private lessons in addition to the group instruction?
A.  Of course it is not necessary.  However, kids do improve faster and with better technique during private instruction.  We recommend ½ and in some cases1 hour lessons for this age group. View your instructor options and pricing on the Instructor's Page. Lessons can be purchased at anytime during the summer from the instructor of your choice. We recommend weekly lessons for this age group.
